About the Festival

"Follow the Music" is an authentic original weaving by Burnham-style Navajo rug maker Helen Begay. Like her Begay sisters, Helen has created a new weaving aesthetic that uses natural hand-spun churro sheep wool and natural dyes made from local plants, minerals, tea, walnuts and even potpourri to create rich earth tones. Her woven narrative painting, which depticts the legendary Kokopelli leading a troupe of musicians across a Southwest frontier, will be auctioned at Pops Night in Durango July 26.
