Family Festivo adds an educational experience for all

Music in the Mountains makes it possible for children and families to be exposed to the arts through classical music by presenting free concerts in Durango and Pagosa Springs during the summer festival. Local children’s theatre companies and Ballet Folklorico de Durango perform with the Festival orchestra in annual rotating productions of The Little Engine That Could, Peter and the Wolf or the Town Musicians of Bremen.

The event also includes a variety of hands-on activities and booths featuring food, games, face painting, balloons, and a cake walk. An Instrument Expo provides an educational component by introducing children to the instruments being played and how each instrument can compliment the other.
